A dancefloor is rarely experienced from just one height.
At the beginning of the night, we stand upright. We observe, recognise faces and pretend we are still deciding whether to dance. Then the music begins to work its way through the room.
Shoulders loosen. Knees bend. Bodies move closer to the ground as if the bass were slowly changing gravity.
There is something wonderfully honest about that moment. The choreography disappears, dignity becomes optional and nobody is dancing for an audience anymore. We are simply responding to the same pulse, each in our own way.
Club culture has always created space for this kind of freedom. Not the polished freedom of looking effortless, but the messier and more joyful freedom of no longer caring how the movement appears from the outside.
Thom LeBlanc knows how to guide a room towards that point. Through warm house, playful grooves and selections filled with character, he lets the energy build without forcing it, until standing still starts to feel far more unnatural than letting go.
So bend your knees.
Lower your guard.
The best part of the night may be closer to the floor.
