Courts Mais Trash stands as the annual grand gathering of independent and underground cinema in Brussels since 2005! Born out of the desire to provide visibility to films that tread off the beaten path, struggling to navigate conventional distribution circuits, Courts Mais Trash champions originality, do-it-yourself ethos, political incorrectness, and creativity.
With ever-growing success, the festival draws nearly 5,000 attendees each year, congregating at Riches-Claires for 6 days and occasionally at other significant cultural venues in Brussels. For each edition, out of the 2,000 considered films, around a hundred are programmed, spanning all formats, and almost forty directors are invited to engage with the audience.
Since 2019, Courts Mais Trash has expanded into Queer Mais Trash, featuring a 100% non-binary program dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ communities. Queer Mais Trash invites its audience to deconstruct and break down representations, raising awareness and broadening the realm of possibilities.
To complement the program, alongside the screenings, the festival hosts After Trash Parties: DJ sets, concerts, performances, and the legendary Karaoké Mais Trash. The festival also organizes sessions for school audiences and professional events for emerging filmmakers.
