Tarantella
Maybe you enjoyed this summer's exhibition at the Stammbar? This time Marijn Cela takes us into his world, the world of dance. Tarantella? No, it's not a tarantula nor is it a southern dish, but it is a folkloric dance from the south of Italy. Ever seen The Godfather? Then you might remember the tarantella during the wedding party scene with the typical rousing rhythm of the music, the quick steps and the spinning movements. The dance is also linked to tarantism, an ancient folk belief in which a possessed woman can be freed and reborn only through music and dance…. But the traditional dance is in danger: the youth is moving away from southern Italy - to the richer North or abroad, villages are deserted and the culture is in danger of being lost. https://vimeo.com/679239879?ref=fb-share&fbclid=IwAR0VCVpbUEy0RERpjDk1YiML77Vinyd1JGLdwwixbzGxBwjtjC9FfOLyVKo In this performance Marijn Celea goes back to his Italian roots. Action plan ‘Nothing without my consent’
The City of Brussels is launching a new action plan 'Nothing without my consent', with 77 measures to fight against harassment and sexual violence. The plan comes in response to the wave of testimonies from people who have been victims of sexual violence in some of Brussels' nightlife spots. It is based on the three axes of the security chain: prevention, action and follow-up. Prevention and actions The prevention component mainly works on an awareness campaign, in collaboration with the cafes and nightlife, which is deployed throughout the City's territory. The actions of this plan at the level of the City, the police zone and the Brussels by Night Federation include structural measures, reception of victims, mobility measures, but also training for police staff and entertainment venues. In the streets, city lights and cameras are reinforced at all hours of the night in the nightlife quarters. Inside there will be facilities such as the establishment of 'Safer Zones'. Mobility

In the meantime, let’s look back at some of her confidences from our podcast : “I started doing drag when I was 18 in Brussels when I used to be a gogo dancer in clubs. It was a way to explore things I was not allowed to discover in my daily life. I became a club kid, an agender persona with full body make up and very tiny clothes. I had this group of friends and our main goal at that time was to create the best look for the next weekend. It was
